AU Market
TL;DR
  • Started with user research and viability checks before wireframing — rental deposits are a high-anxiety financial moment for tenants
  • Designed 7 onboarding screens covering eligibility, identity, rental details, instalment selection and confirmation
  • 3 dashboard states: active deposit, repayment schedule, and completed

The problem

Australian renters face a well-documented problem: security deposits (bonds) often run to 4–6 weeks of rent, a lump sum that blocks access to housing for people who are cash-constrained. Incola’s model — pay now, tenants repay in instalments — removes the upfront barrier. The product needed UX that built trust fast, since users were handing over rental contracts and personal financial details.

Goal

Design an onboarding flow and tenant dashboard for a pay-later security deposit SaaS — trust-building, clear, and compliant for the Australian rental market.

Outcome

7-screen onboarding from eligibility check to deposit confirmation. 3-state dashboard covering active deposit, scheduled repayments, and completed status. Designed for the full tenant journey.

Approach

Started with user research on Australian rental anxieties and the regulatory context. Flow mapping established the minimum viable information architecture: what Incola needed to collect, in what order, without overwhelming an already-stressed user. Wireframes iterated through the trust moments — where to show fees, when to ask for documents, how to confirm the deposit was secured.
